Title: Pleasant suprise but now I need a recipe
Post by: Litchfield Fisher on May 30, 2008, 09:06 PM
fished the tacoma/dacoma lakes tonight and was catching some perch bass and pickrel for the heck of it but managed to catch a  couple nice 14'' or so crappies just before heading home I just filed them out but have only ever cooked them with minimal spices on a grill or wood stove before so any sugestions as to how I should cook them would be great thanks !

Batter and Fry in Crisco.

I would wash it; soak it in milk/egg -- 10 minutes; bread with cracker meal and flour that is seasoned and fry....

Experiment with the seasonings... lemon and tartar when servng/some fried rice; sweet peas. butter corn.... whatever you like  ;D

simple beer batter is the only way to go, just beer and flour not to thick dip and deep fry kick back and enjoy! :thumbup_smilie:

I had my share in the last few months and deep fry in batter is my choice.

jsut fried them up for lunch took one bite and it was one of the worst fish  I have ever had so I checked the box of batter coating and found out its experation date was about 6 months ago so it ended up being a waste of a perfectly good fish  :-\ that I was looking forward to eating but I will keep the recipce in mind for next time thanks

What a bummer!!! hope you are feeling O.K. I have read about people getting really sick from old batter.. more specificly pancake batter boxes. can cause food posioning like symptons.. just thought you should know.. not try to add salt to the wounds.. ;)
