Finally had some time to take my Kayak for a round on the lake. Fished about 4 hours and didn't have any luck. Some top water bites in the lily pads on plastic frog later in the day. Missed the fish which happens a lot to me on this lure. Tried a number of other things but didn't get a bite. Nice day to be out on the water though.

I use the BOOYAA FROGS.
I miss lots too.lol.
I'm a swim bait fan as of late.
Hooked seedless threw the padded.
I never fished the lower lake in open water.just on the ice.
Gotta give it a try.

Did you go in back past the channel into the lilypads or just in the back before the channel where it's shallow? With all this heat and sunlight lately I bet they are in the back past the channel in the weeds and pads. Gotta be big time weedless back there! Were the stockers still jumpin?
-
Spider I went in on the deep side where I icefish and fished from there up to the little cove before you get to the beaver hut and the channel. Are you saying to go through the channel past the beaver hut to the shallow part of the lake to look for them in the weeds?
Chez, I use plastic swimbaits like Paddle tail senkos or Keitech shiners. I usually get good action with them and they are an easy bait to cover a lot of water. I didn't through the Keitech on the weekend but did use the senkos and had no luck. The wind was blowing so I also tried some spinnerbaits around the weededges. I guess Spider is right they probably were buried deep in there.

yep. Get in there and work the pads. Gotta go weedless cuz it gets heavy there. And watch out fer them gaters, they like it in there too!
-
Will give this a try next time. Oh, didn't see any stickers. Rumnutt must have been eating them all. Lol.

My ears were buzzing. Did somebody say STOCKERS?! ;D No, wasn;t me. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get the yak in the water since SPider and I were there in the sleet and snow about a month ago. :'(

The last couple times I was there the eagles were cleanin them up pretty good. I bet the gators and bass enjoyed a few too. About all they're good for, bird food and bait!
-
Spider - I agree with you. The trout stocking should be renamed as "Eagle Feeding Program". Hidden Lake the same thing. As soon as they stock trout all the eagle are sitting in the trees around the lake. You don't see them much the rest of the year.

LOL! That's a good one....................EAGLE FEEDING PROGRAM! ;D I have to remember that one!

I know, he can make a commercial for a fishing guide service. It'll have Ruttnutt in the dingy fishing while playing polkas on his radio and Spider standing in the front like Napoleon pointing and saying come fish with (insert whatever fishing guide service's name you want) and catch the big one. :rotflol: :rotflol: :whistling: :whistling:

NO POLKAS on MY radio! ::)

OK OK How about Come Sail Away? ;D
