I dont know man... I think you might have screwed him over on that one. Looks like its 1/4-1/3" below the 0 and 3/4" above the 20. So it would still be over 20".

from the rules...

7) The length is "as the fish lays" - not by squeezing the tail. If the mouth is open it will be measured from the shortest point.

there is also a lot of human error by just drawing a staight line from fish to tape measure in the pics so what i do is use an autocad program and scale 12" of the ruler in the picture and then scale the fish and my computer calculates the overall length . this is the way i score each entry . I try to be as fair as possible and checked these close entrys more than once.

Is there a place where we can debate that for next years tourney? You know as well as I that when you lay a bass down his mouth CAN NOT stay closed. His anatomy makes his mouth hang open a little. Only way for it to close is if he closes it himself.

When they are wore out, they don't have the energy to keep their mouths shut so they lay half open.

Why not take a fish hook and hook both lips together. It shouldn't hurt the fish and you get the result you want. grin
