Anybody else use this trick???
« on: Apr 21, 2010, 03:04 PM »
When you cats your bait out and put your rod in a holder, put a clothes pin on the line and pull in a few inches of slack so the weight of the clothes pin sags the line between two rod guides. When you see it go up or bounce... take the clothes pin off, put it on the bill of your hat and wait for the take!
Fly fishermen have longer rods.

I use an inline bobber to do the same thing and when you fight the fish the line just slides through the bobber.

Similiar tactic.  I used a cheap bobber with the spring clip and clipped on just so that I can hook set and the bobber would fall off.  The light bobber was really useful at night.  Far better when you're next to loud running water and no bells will be heard in the dark.
Slip bobber fishing and ice lounger.
