I'm interested man. I hiked into a pond with a leanto Monday night. 97 when I hit the trail after work.
I made it until 9am yesterday before I threw in the towel. I started running out of water. I thought 2.5 gallons was enough!
Nope!
Have any of you tried boiling pond water for drinking water?
How bad is it?
Trolling was a little slow for me. 2 on a x-mas tree/fly combo.
4 jigging with a jighead/worm off the bottom.
Oddly enough, I caught 4 from shore dunking a worm, while recovering from the hike in.
I almost ended up in survival mode. Be careful hiking in this heat man.
Nothing over 13" for me. Better luck next time.
The angle of the dangle is directly proportionate to the heat of the beat.

Nothing wrong with boiling pond water... Just make sure it boils for two minuets or more... The worst part is waiting for it to cool to drink...  Plus its always nice to have a clean bandanna to filter out the other stuff.. ;D

Buy yourself a small backpacking water filter.  They weigh very little and beats lugging in all that water or a stove and fuel.  Katadyn makes a good one.

Awesome guys! Thanks a bunch. Water always ends up being the issue for me on these hikes.it won't be anymore.

i hit a verry remote stream last weekend. abpout a 4 mile canoe ride through a win ding swamp/marsh creek.  had to portage around 5 beaver dams. i started off catching dink perch and just as i thought the guy who told me about this place was bsing me i hooked in to a huge 2 pound brookie. i was exstatic. i was hootin and hollerin and just plain excited. i was like a kid on chrismas :D caought 30 trout with a mixed bag of rainbows and brookies. most ranged from 12-14 inches. the brook was about 20 foot wide and 10-15 foot deep.
