Anybody been into any trout ponds lately? Gonna throw the sportspal on the wheels and drag into a favorite of mine this upcoming weekend.. I'm thinking the water temp should be right where it needs to be. And no bugs yet!!

We made it to a pond last weekend and did well.
I vowed to leave the phone and camera at the truck. The disconnection was needed more than the dang fish.
I've got a 14 year old that just MIGHT be ready to pack my canoe in for us. I might better get to enjoying him carrying while I can.
This is the best tip I've picked up from this thread.   ;D
The angle of the dangle is directly proportionate to the heat of the beat.

LOL! Glad you got out.   ;D
One more with the one we're after and we'll have two.
The brook trout is the prom queen of the trout world, and a promiscuous prom queen at that!

Fished last weekend at Bug Lake and got the ole skunk. As did a good number of other guys on the lake.. Trolled around for at least 5 - 6 hours with not one single bite.. The weather was great tho.. No wind. Nice day I had a good time just being out there.. I blame the lack of catching fish on the extremely diverse range of food/baitfish in the lake.. Just on the shore in shallow water I saw a school of minnows, crawfish, leeches, salamanders, and some sort of black underwater bug.. All in about one square foot area..  No wonder it's hit or miss there they all have a full stomach!! Oh well better luck next time.

bug lake[pond-040789]in hamilton co, deep hole[62ft.]which is in the north center of lake, with a 30ft.hole in
the south center of the lake.inlet on the west side about mid way, with some water coming in in the north west bay
good colors gold[golden shinners] and purple [smelt] is stocked,[como has cut back on stocking]hot weather fish deep
most times,i like spinners, and lake clears around 10ftor just over the weeds
hope this helps
remember 80% of the fish are caught by 20% of the fishers

Rat.. Thank you for the info on Bug.. Well known facts, but still helpful to those that have not fished it.. Ive gone there many years in the past and done quite well, got 2 Brook trout last year over 18" caught before noon on a wabbler and nymph combo within 20 min of eachother. Returned the following weekend and fished the same area, caught 0. It's all in water temp, moon phase, rise and set.. I wouldn't really say 80% of the fish are caught by 20% of the anglers (as if someone could troll a wabbler much different than the next guy) it's just about patience. Ya don't go and kill em every trip.. Bottom line. But thank you for the comment

If anybody has any ponds that are a decent hike, but easily fished from shore and are not overgrown id be grateful for a pm. Still saving for a kayak. Until then im the boatless angler
