If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

There are lots of you tube videos that cover all types of flies and techniques.  Go to a local TU meeting or fly shop....I am sure they have classes or folks that would be willing to show you the basics.

I just bought another desk to hold all my stuff.........so if you thought you were going to save money....   ;D ;D  have fun!!

WK,

I use both wire and articulated shanks.. On these streamers lately that I have been tying, I have been using just wire.
The wire seems to be lighter than the articulated shanks, IMO...
On my big Musky flies I use the predator articulated shanks..  Easy to tie on plus their strength...

Glad to see the thread is alive again,

Great looking meat fly Drew.

I've been sidelined for a month and a half with some  health issues but hope to be back at the vise soon.

Any time.

Start with simple flies that catch fish. Wooly Buggers and Clouser minnows are always going to be in your fly box. Hare's Ear and Phesant Tail nymphs are other  "don't leave home without them" flies.

On YouTube, look for Davie McPhail's videos. He's the finest fly Tyer's I've ever watched. Midcurrent Fly Tying videos is another really good teaching aid. I pick up tips and techniques from them all the time. Very good instructional presentations.

Have fun with the new hobby.
