Well, 2 months after ice out, the crappie are on FIRE. At three mile lake, fishing in about 16 FOW, me and my mom went out for mother's day and reeled in 40+ 10" or bigger crappies. The private lake here in town is going hot as well. Although, the crappie are smaller, they are waaaaay more common to see. You do get the occasional big bass. overall, i think the fishing is underway to a good year.
by the way, how has everyone else been doing in rivers for channel cats? other than the mississippi.
