homemade dip tubes

Go into walmart or whatever store that has office supplies and get a pack of the pencil grippers ( 20 pack for like 2.50)
Get a cheap single hole punch
Get some hooks with the leaders on them ( snelled?) i like using just a single hook

punch some holes in the pencil gripper, run the leader thru and hook to a swivel on your main line.

the couple times i have done this last year my hook up rate was literally 100% per bite all hooked right in the corner of the mouth. the pencil grippers float a little bit and keep it right off the bottom to make it easier to grab is what i believe with them. I have tried many different store bought ones and have never caught much with them... get the bites but not the hook ups

I will get some pictures of a rig sometime tonight for ya.

Another good tip is to replace the line on store bought ones.. replace it with 65lb braided line. The braided line will flex in the water and feel soft to the fish when they take it in, also gets better hook-ups.
