Heard there is discussion of stocking walleye - not sure how serious. Caught a few crappie the same day off vets ice fishing.

Saw some small trout in a LG tributary this week, pretty sure they are rainbows, didn't have white on their fins.

Caught some brookies, too.

Cool! I think that's great. Pretty brookies, too.
One more with the one we're after and we'll have two.
The brook trout is the prom queen of the trout world, and a promiscuous prom queen at that!

Fishing isn't a matter of life or death, it's much more important than that!

I live with FEAR everyday, and sometimes she lets me go fishing!

There are plenty of Crappie, my son caught some ice fishing but I know the best time to catch them is when they are getting to  spawn. As for Walleyes I've never seen any, even though they are in Champlain, Lake George is a lot higher & it's quite a drop, so I don't know if they could get up them. I agree that Browns would make a good addition to the lake. ;D

There is no reason to believe browns would do any better than landlocks; look at Brant Lake. In LG it will be tough for anything stocked to compete with all those wild(not stocked) lakers.

Just out of curiosity why do you think Brant has a poor trout population?  After ice out when I lucky enough to hit it right I can consistently hook up with a few browns and an occasional rainbow in the mid to high teen range.  As the season goes on they get tougher to catch but still do better than I ever do on lake George salmon if I compare hours to hours.

IMO: lake George is the best fishery up here I mean where else can you go out with a dozen crayfish and sit in a row boat and catch lakers, bass or pike without moving. if you know the right area if you have fished the lake for years you know all you have to do is sit in one spot for a few hours with a couple poles rigged up with live bait drink beer and wait let the wind drift you around you WILL hook up with something..

Gotta watch out with the open containers bro. Especially on that lake

If you read the nys boating laws there is a "zero tolerence"  law for drinking and boating....the way I understand that means the .08 dosent apply its no drinking, right?  Im not a drinker so im not sure but thats what I make of it.
