That would be a Bowfin, or as they call them down South, a Grunt ;)

Yeah an eelpout is good eating. What you have there is a good old "Dogfish" aka "bowfin". They fight like hell but aren't good for much else.
fishermen are born honest, but they get over it..

If looking for Bullheads I've been filling 5 gallon buckets outta fair haven using leeches.  Just a FYI.  I myself if I had a boat would rather be out for perch.

I have not been back on line since my fall. but i am back now. I also deleted some of those private messages. First, the boat doctor kept my boat a little longer than I had anticipated. The noise he heard was not the gimble bearing, but the impeller was being chewed up and had to be replaced along with some other lower end replacement parts. luckily we caught it before it damaged the motor. Additionally, my bud Freddy helped me locate the new transducer (boat mounted) for my 4X Lowrance fish finder. Thanks Freddy. Everything works fine. Looks like Monday and Tuesday are not going to rain. It is only supposed to get up to 50 degrees, but we have all been out in colder weather than that eh? I missed ice out at Kring's Point, but am considering going up anyway. Pat, we got to finally get to fish together . Give me a PM bud. Tommy Boy is ready and so is Eddy. I am healed and ready to go. Looking for some buds to help me launch the new and improved Larson.

Thanks bud. I intend to make up for lost time. I have nearly exhausted my supply of perch. Three days of dry weather, WOW, the whole world has opened to me . Hopefully, Jperch is going to guide me to his "sacred secret spot"  alliteratively speaking.
