The deep water program is in full swing. We have been catching decent #s of pike in 50' + of water. Green/silver spoons on the riggers,30'-40' down, DAREDEVILS 4' behind  a Dipsy, 75'-90' back on 2 has been hot. On cloudy days, blue has been our best color. My brothers grandson landed a 4lb. 10 oz. LM bass ,on my boat,2 weeks ago. Just north of the island has been our best spot. I will be drift fishing on Fri. morning , w/ live bait, trying to get some deep water fish, that refuse to hit trolled baits. Sorry I have not posted recently, been too busy w/ other stuff. Mostly, painting Goose Decoys for the fast approaching early goose season. Man, This site is DEAD!
Yes I am here, but I would rather be on the Kenai river, fishing for reds!

Getting ready for some Goosebustin, on Mon. morning. Almost 200 honker dekes will be in a cut wheat field, between Nashville & Charlotte. Fishing is on the back burner for a week or two.

Hey 3300, good to hear from ya ! Someone has already put up thread for Gull this year, on the shanty. When the ice starts forming, I will start posting. Right now, the lake is loaded w/ Buffleheads, Canvasbacks & coots. Rigging up 3 rods tonight, for smelt fishing. Got a new Patriot 58" rod this week-end & 3 new Eagle Claw in-line ice reels.

patriot rods owner dave, used to wrap guides for higley rods out of matawan before he passed. his wife is carrying the business some how, maybe with daves help still.
i have a few higley rods for casting and dave still uses the same graphite handles jim higley used too.

never got my boat out of the garage this year or used my new fishing licsense. waiting to get on ice to try out lots of new gear. the other half is all new gear to try out too.
