« on: Apr 24, 2014, 06:30 AM »
Just wondering if anyone had conditions for ponds up near Saranac lake and Tupper lake area? Is there still ice, any predictions on ice out? Thanks!

I was at two ponds in Southern Adks last week. They still had about 1" of ice and the roads were closed to cars, due to muddy conditions. If that is the case in the south, I can only assume the northern Adk's are still pretty well frozen, but can't say for sure. Go on the DEC website, locate who the Forrest Ranger is and call him / her. They will be able to give you some idea about conditions. I e-mailed my Ranger with questions, after I found that the ponds were still frozen. He was very helpful. Nice guy too.
