new personal best channel cat

caught on half a nightcrawler while (unsuccessfully) fishing for carp.

4 lbs, and 19 1/2" long

Nice cat.   Probably fought better than carp, probably tastes better too.

Looks more like a brown bullhead, no forked tail.

the bullheads in this pond never get bigger than about 10 inches. that and they're yellow bullheads, easily identifiable by the fact that they're bright yellow.

just broke my personal best again!

24" on the nose, 9 lbs 9 oz.


hot, humid night. around 11:00 i hooked this guy on a bluegill head and boy was he MAD! every time i thought i'd whupped him, he decided to make another run. ended up tricking him into the net by getting him shallow then walking along the shore to where the net was lying in the water.

Man that looks like a bullhead to me. Maybe something took a chunk out of the tail. Or he's just special  :P nice fish regardless

yeah, no. this cat came out of the same pond my previous best channel cat came from, same argument as earlier applies:
