when I was a child my gramps use to take me down to the Salmon River with pieces of hot dog to catch them , and then he would watch from a distance to make me think I was a big boy on my own he use to refer to them as rubber nose trout ,he was a major player in my fishing life , they say if you pickle them they aren't bad , but have never tried it

never ate one.....
If I catch them on a native brookie stream, I normally feed them to the ratcoons.
They make great pike and catfish bait and yes they fight like hell.
And fun to catch if nothing else can be found, they will save the day sometimes when I take my wife or son fishing.  8)
Fishing isn't a matter of life or death, it's much more important than that!

I live with FEAR everyday, and sometimes she lets me go fishing!

Anyone try them for striper bait?  Im sure they would die if brought in the salt of ocean but the brackish and fresher parts of rivers they must survive?

they love hotdog ! get big ones up here in maine. mostly a junk fish but they do fight good! i wouldn't eat one unless in a survival mode! my biggest was just under 4 lbs. on a chunk of red hot dog off my grandmothers dock when i was 12.

I target me in one particular stream close by. They're  pretty good size and take flies from nymphs to clousers. Never tried to eat one. I'd guess they would be oily little buggers.

Fun to catch for sure.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Aren't Fallfish what the Indians used to fertilize their corn?    ::) :P
One more with the one we're after and we'll have two.
The brook trout is the prom queen of the trout world, and a promiscuous prom queen at that!
