minkota co-pilot
« on: Aug 10, 2014, 05:13 PM »
I am looking at a used  minkota power drive  co-pilot   24 volt 80lb thrust and 60 inch shaft that a guy met took of to put I-pilot on.  It is about 5 years old and only has the foot peddle  no remote.  Any concerns and he wants me to make an offer and I have no idea what to make can anyone help me?

New, the trolling motor without the co-pilot it is worth $780 at Cabela's
The co-pilot system adds another $150, at Cabela's
That's $930 in today's dollars for a NEW one.

Just my opinion -
The unit you are looking at, used, if it works, maybe $400-450
Especially because the remote is missing.

Some electric motors will loose power as they age. Mine is a little older minn kota (not the co-pilot) and has lost a lot of power, so I would have some concerns about buying a used one for that reason. Maybe the brushes can be replaced but I'm no mechanic.  At least use that a negotiating point.
