Some hog gills
« on: Sep 12, 2014, 07:59 PM »
9/12/14
Caught these gills today in 25-28 fow.  This bunch was real good quality.  Had 1 that went 9 7/8, 2 that went 9 3/4, several that went 9 1/2 and several others over 9.  The water temp. was 71.3 degrees.  Caught them all on crickets while tight lining.

Great batch of gills.  If you don't mind me asking, How do you setup to tight line?  Weight on the bottom and hook above it?  Do you drift out through the deeper water, or anchor and tight-line over the side of the boat?  I'm always looking for new fishing tricks to add to my options when I go out.

My set up is bell sinker on the bottom and one hook above it about 12 inches and if I use 2 hooks it will be about 12 inches above first hook.  I do almost 95 percent of my tight lining while going real slow with the electric motor.  It seems like every time I try and anchor on them they are gone by the time I get anchored.
