If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Here's the PA state record Black Crappie. The fish was taken from Hammond lake in Tioga Co.

Thanks Trapper,
Heineken all over my iPad. At least it's easier to clean than the old laptop.

Good posts. I thought it was interesting that PA won't recognize certain waters for records:

"Fish taken from farm ponds, fee-fishing lakes, ponds or streams or in waters restricted to use by club members or their guests do not qualify."

That seems a very fair way to do things. Prevents the guys from raising pet crappies and submitting them for trophy status.

A Largemouth Bass was caught in a small lake near my home a few years back that may very well have broken the State record but because the lake was private and has no public access, the State refused to accept it.

That's fair enough as far as I'm concerned also.

I agree wholeheartedly, I know a guy who has a really small pond not even 1/8 acre and he's raising a crappie for his grandson to "catch" the record crappie... He has a small bait shop and throws all his dead minnows in pond and the crappie come up and look
like bunch of piranhas devouring the minnows.
take a kid hunting and fishing, it's a lot better than leaving them on the streets!!

I looked and I didn't see any such restrictions on NY records, chime in if you know of any. I too think it would be more fair. It would also have an impact against something like say the DSR, if a record was caught there.

So what you're saying here Rat is that if the fish wins.........................we should not present it with the trophy.
