Trolling depths?
« on: Sep 19, 2014, 02:41 PM »
The water has started to cool lately. What would be a good depth to troll for browns this time of year. Hoping to head up to Pepacton next weekend, and was wondering what a good starting trolling depth would be. Thanks
Gino

Use your depthfinder to locate the fish
We have no idea at what depth the fish are at.

WATER TEMP IS THE KEY[some finders have temp.BUT that temp is at the
CONE HEAD] you want a temp unit that gos over the side and can go down

If you have a portable fish finder that will help you find fish. The problem with that is your fishing the pepacton probably out of a row boat. (no motor) rowing around looking for fish is not likely. You could take a vexlar temp prob and drop it down to find temps of around 60 degrees. If I had the ability to find the depth the bait fish are that is the depth I would try. What is your method of fishing? Do you have a manual down rigger? Are you using lead-core?

I used dipsey divers and spoons. I have a fishin buddy, but it only takes surface temp. It does mark fish and depth of fish.

O.K. --to me and only me ,i think you need a temp gauge that is a different
thing.to me you need a unit to go over the side of the boat AND TELLS THE
TEMP. as it go down.[the temp at 10 ft. the temp at 20 ft. the temp at 30ft
to me and only me,what is the temp.for the fish i want
