Not the first time. 2013:
Over the limit of panfish
(St. Lawrence County)
ECO Joel Schneller received calls from multiple concerned citizens in the town of Morristown that individuals were taking large numbers of panfish over their limit on Black Lake. Schneller and ECO Scott Atwood conducted an undercover operation to apprehend the subjects in the act. Atwood worked in plain clothes and kept track of the individuals running fish back to their vehicles and other hidden locations on the shoreline. Atwood observed two individuals catching large numbers of bluegills and they did not look like they had any intentions of stopping. After observing the individuals make two trips to their vehicles with buckets of bluegills, Atwood contacted Schneller and informed him that the individuals were well over their limit of bluegills. On their last trip, the two fishermen were met at their vehicles by Schneller, who quickly confirmed that they were well over their daily limit. The individuals were about 168 bluegills over their limit. Both subjects were issued citations returnable to Morristown Town Court.
