Salmon Hatchery in Orland
« on: Nov 22, 2014, 06:45 PM »
"Lamothe stressed that, despite these low return numbers, the high percentage of fry that return to Maine rivers each spring show that the captive breeding program is successful. Only in the last 14 years — since Maine salmon were listed as endangered — has there been a federal effort to protect them after they are released, he said. The removal of dams in the Penobscot River in the past couple of years is a step toward improving their survival rate in the wild.”

I hope we see a resurgence. Maybe getting rid of the dam will help.

The Salmon Numbers continue to go down since the Feds took over, only when they stock more smolts do we see a bump in returns years later

oceans are warming and are getting more acidic which is probably not helping either
