Sunday afternoon @ Wachuset
« on: Nov 23, 2014, 04:54 PM »
Late this morning I finished a couple things around the house, went outside, noticing the wind was calm and the temperature was pretty war compared to the last few days. I decided to spend the afternoon fishing outdoors instead of working indoors.

I got there just before noon and started casting. Indeed the wind was calm and the temperature was amazingly warm.   I made a few casts and moved down the shore a few times.  On the third spot got a strike as the lure sank.

Turned out to be a nice laker.

This is my first Wachuset Laker.  It was 22" long and weighed 3.5 pounds.  can't think of a better way to spend what's probably the last warm day of the year.
Everyone believes in something.  I believe I'll go fishing.

Nice job and a nice looking fish. I went there today and got my usual skunk.  :-[
To think, I gave up watching the Pats for that! Luckily I have a DVR. I was a beautiful afternoon there, I'll give it that.

I got the one strike just after noon and fished until without any further action. But the great weather made up somewhat for the lack of feeding fish.

Is that a PK flutter fish your using?  I've never really thought to throw ice fishing jigs at the Chu but it isn't a bad idea.

Yes, that is a PK Flutterfish.  It casts very far and I've caught several lakers and rainbows trolling with it.  The gold hammered pattern also works well.

My buddy got 1 a couple weeks ago throwing a swedish pimple. They too cast a mile.

Well that makes me want to ice fish the Chu even more.  This state is ridiculous with all of the prestine bodies of water that you can't fish.  Cobble Mountain Reservoir in my neck of the woods is rumored to have giant trout and smallies but they've NEVER allowed fishing there.

All right, I'll bite. What's a "touge"?  Is it some strange variety of rainbow trout that I've never heard of?

Not a rainbow, but a togue is the Maine name for Lake Trout.
