Help Planning Lake Oneida Spring Trip
« on: Nov 28, 2014, 11:30 AM »
Hey everyone. The wife and I are looking at planning a trip to Oneida in may of 2015 for a long weekend (Thursday to sunday). Ive never fished the lake before and I'm looking for some ideas on where to start.  Were intrested in walleye and we mainly troll. Wondering what would be a good starting point on the lake, just a general idea east, west, north, south not looking to take anyones hot spot.  Also we will need lodging, I would perfer a cabin or something on the lake. I will pull the boat everyday so docking or travel to a ramp is not a issue. Thanks everyone

Just make sure the PM was from Filet not Release.

You can tell without asking by just thinking about the response.  If it says anything about camping off Onondaga lake parkway, fishing Onondaga instead, where you can grab a great hotdog at Hyde's its from Release.

Anything about staying on route 49 and fishing within 3 miles or so from the same place will be from Filet.
He's got a pretty sweet rig & knows a bit about catching eyes the lazy way.
I was berated for fishing & asked recently by a PETA type.  You don't keep fish do you?  I responded "No I don't like aquariums. I just treat them like a quick haircut, & take a little of the sides"
