When is a good time to hit around the newburg beacon area.  I was thinking they usually are there now through may but was just curious with how cold its been.

Is seelys still open down by the river?

Beacon has been producing a lot of 5-10lbers and yes seelys is still open great place ..

I'm going out this weekend. From what I gather bait is tough and that's fine with me everytime they are thick fishing sucks. I'm not worried about bait we always get them it just takes longer some times.
The new regs really burn my ars I'm driving 2.5 hours for one fish a day I don't like to keep the 40+ inch fish.
The 30~35's are my choice to eat. Good luck to all.

Fished a little north and south of Henry Hudson park from the boat. Didn't have much trouble finding bait.  Landed a nice channel cat and a handful of bullhead but no stripers. Not even a run. Used live and chunk. Almost a full launch when I left at noon. Nice day to be out.

We fished around the catskill creek for the most part.
Went 3 for 5 on live 30,32,35 all in the morning. We fished sun up to sun down both days no runs after 11 AM.

Very very slow for us.   5 fish friday night up to 22.75lbs, but then only 1 saturday and only 2 sunday, everything else was small.   Weird.

Saw 6 dead ones floating down past us! I'm not a fan of the new slot.
I can see a point to it I guess but I think it needs to go 18 to 32. Circle hook helps but its not mandated.
We had circles on and still had two gut hooked fish had to cut the line and send them back >:(.
I normally keep my one in the 30-34 range 40+ fish don't taste nearly as good as a 30!

Can anyone give me any pointers on fishing with chunk bait? I just keep catching catfish. Don't get me wrong, catfish are fun and all but........
