Steelhead
« on: Mar 19, 2015, 09:27 PM »
Headed to Trail Creek in the morning before the chickens with FWwalleye and one of his friends.  I've never been and have none of the right equipment so it should be a party!  I do have a go pro to strap to my head so if nothing else I should get some video of me falling into the creek!!!  Stay tune!

Lol! Oh no.... You won't need much. Simple setup is a bobber with some split shot and number 8 or 6 keeper hooks and whatever the bait of the day is.

Specialized gear may be "better" but a lot of fish get caught without it.  A hook, some sinkers, a pole with a decent reel, and some bait.  With that being said, I hope you took some extra poles in case you get done early and want to fish for some coho.

It is fun but I still have not caught a steelies from the creek!  Both my wife and son have but not me!

Good luck and let us know how you do.

Most of the stores and Bait shops in this area carry what you need, they will set you up.

Well, the good news is that I caught my first steelhead out of the creek, the bad news is that it was REALLY short!  We did get a couple though.  One male on roe and spinning tackle and one female (Chad returned to the creek) on a fly rod with a black woolly burger with a pink head.

Thanks for the assistance Chad, I had a great time!

What do you mean short? That's a nice steelie.
