Nice job guys!  No jigging on fourth Mike?  I have been making use of a drift sock this year.  What a helpful tool for days hat are too windy!

It was so windy, not just gusts but sustained 20 mph wind that it was impossible to hold bottom even with a drift sock. The only thing that helped was keeping the bow mounted troll motor on full thrust into the wind which kept the speed at around 1 mph so we could put the lead on bottom but it was marginal at best. But, despite the the conditions will still lucked into a few but it was likely more of an accident than anything. Wish I had my copper wire rigs, that would've really helped! I agree with you on the sock, it's an awesome tool for the arsenal! Speed control is so important with lakers especially when they're deep!

Hi chez.... Well they said the problem is fixed.
They called in the experts and they decided to drill additional holes, to relieve the pressure from the problem hole where the water was gushing up. The additional holes were drilled way below the problem hole, and it apparently worked. Then they pumped in (and I think they are still pumping in) some special grout to seal the problem hole, and the water is no longer gushing up which had put the dam area in jeopardy.

The current release is now down to 500 cfs, and will remain there through the rest of summer. Luckily, there is enough cold water still stored in the reservoir to do this. Cannonsville level should still continue to drop a little, because only 300 cfs is coming in. But if we get a bunch of rain , the reservoir level can start going up again...all depends on mother nature.

I hope their grout fix holds and things can get back to normal above and below the big dam.

Still not sure if they are going ahead with their hydro electric project....but most people seem to think they are.

Good luck and good fishing to you chez .  (btw, the west branch and main stem wild trout fishing has been phenominal the last few weeks)
I'm fishing my way through life .

Thank you so much Choo Choo for the report.
I heard the problem was fixed, and you seem to have comfirmed it for me.
Im heading to the beach this weekend for a week.
When i get back im gunna hit it for smallies.I luv the fall smallie bite there.
Cannonsville is just getting back to normal after the last problem.
I luv both Cannonsville and Downsville but,Cannonsville is a good half hour closer.
I heard of this Round Out Dam in Ny.
I want to try to get some info on it.And possably drop a boat on it.
THANKS AGAIN ChOO ChOO AND GOOD FISHING TO YOU.

Chez, Roundout is a fantastic reservoir, loaded with Lakers and Smallies and also has a good Brown fishery with some monsters caught each season! In mid July and friend and I went for the day to jig for Lakers.  We caught close to 20 fish that day including a nice 13.5lb'r!  A great source for info on The Roundout is the Hudson Valley Sportsman, http://www.hudsonvalleysportsman.com/index.php?action=forum
You'll find a great group of guys and there is a lengthy thread on The Roundout as well as several other of the West of the Hudson DEP waters.  I think you'll find the site very interesting!

Mike, what would it take for a CT guy like myself to get out on Roundout?

I finally had a successful day trolling!!!! 3 for 3 on hits today! 19" smallmouth, 20" brown, and another smaller 14" brown. The bass was at 8 colors, both trout at 6. Was using Stingers. Also caught 2 smallmouth casting, and my father caught a smallmouth and a rock bass. Beautiful & successful day out. I try to release all the fish I get, but unfortunately the bigger brown was hooked bad and I had to keep him.

So where did that nice rainbow in the pic come from Gino?

I gotta get my boat on Roundout.  So bored................

Dr. JM
Why fight 10 guys for 1000 salmon when you can fight a bear for 100,000 salmon.  They call me crazy for fishin in 62 below zero - I think you have to be crazier to live in the Lower 48 and fight people for fish.  I'm coming home soon enough.  Alaska is Life!!!  All are welcome.

Thanks for the kind words guys! Actually, that is indeed a Brown trout. When I took the picture was after it died, and it lost a lot of its color. When I caught it it was a lot darker, and I easily identified it as a brown.
