just remember to budget in another 125 too 200 dollars for a good map chip, as those units do not come with built in contour maps as the Lowrance does

To get a wide format Lowrance unit with the same feature set as the 'Bird would have cost me a bit more regardless of the chip. My Navionics card was $149 but I already owned it before buying the Helix. I was very close to buying the Lowrance but really happy with what I ended up with, the Helix is really great.

thank you been thinking of one my self for fishing in the boat!!! do they got a ice flasher mode on it too? i already got a 4x and a x67c but was curious about flasher mode on the standard sonar model like  not the si or di model different transducer on those models?

Mine is a DI but it has a flasher mode and I believe all of them do. I will definitely be using this for hardwater fishing as well.
