Owasco inlet for pike?

Should I use live bait only? If so, what would be the best rigging, under a float, or weighted near the bottom?

A few years ago we boated up the inlet and set up camp for opening weekend. We caught pike both ways since so many people were fishing not everyone could float shiners without getting tangled some used 1 oz sinkers and caught pike. Also caught a ton of plate sunnies and some smelt. It's pretty wild up the inlet I've thought about doing it again...

So slim chance of using plastics, cranks or spoons?  I was thinking about large ultravibe worms on a weighted widegap hook, weedless. When I fish this with smaller ultravibes, I cannot keep the pickerel off the combo. I figured it might work for Northerns as well.
