I use the smaller ones for perch....in the spring I hardly need live bait...1/16 oz jig head...I would think 5" with 3/8-5/8 jig head would b killer for walleye

1/4 ,3/8, and half ounce jig heads are what we use for chugging  for 4 to 5 inch tails for eyes we  also  use 5/8 to one ounce for vertical jigging on the Detroit river and st clair rivers... now swimming or chugging it, or "getting it to dart  or flash" is what were doing with them... but in the spring we use the vertical jigging out of boats at the mouths of rivers. the mouths are dark or stained  with the cross flow of two rivers  were one body of water is clear water it tend to cloud up at the mouths...

I haven't found a freshwater fish that won't demolish a 3" gulp minnow on a jig head.  I go through dozens of bags a year.

For a fairly new bait try ether the Kalins Grub or Jerk Minnow.
