Very nice fish.

Any idea what the length and weight was? Even a guesstimate?

Nice post Space Ghost!  LOL!  No guestimates no idea other than big is big.  Any measuring would have probably killed that fish with the water temps being what they were.

Glad to hear someone understands the importance of releasing a fish ASAP.

Up this way the musky fisherman have a cradle with a tape attached they slide the fish into so they don't remove it from the water. A quick measurement and pic and back she goes.

Ya well in all honesty I want a shot at that fish later in the season.  There is more in there like her for sure.

1 oz lipless crank you say? I wouldve used a 2 oz crank using a figure 8 pattern in around 15 ftw while my first mate gave me the up most of moral support. Of course my bait wouldnt have had barbs on the hook, either. Using anything else besides 2lb mono with a 1lb 10 ft leader wouldve been a rookie movie, also.  I normally post referencing myself in the 3rd person but at the moment im hauling up a world record panfish using a string i pulled from my tshirt this morning.

When I shoved my hand in its gill it got me pretty good,  nothing deep but bled pretty good.  No way I was dropping that fish on my buddy (although the thought crossed my mind!!)

Not sure Alan.  The boat was in deep water for sure and some of the other pike we caught were suspended as seen on the finder, I can only assume that one was too becaue we marked the thermocline pretty well and there was a clear deadzone on the bottom.

Thanks

Sure if it helps!  That was over 300 hours logged in that area open water and ice before we landed one that large.  I think I have a better chance of catching ebola than landing one that large myself.

The way that last one worked out it may be less painful:-)
