PERCH
« on: Aug 16, 2015, 02:39 PM »
Who is getting them. I heard they are still getting them east of the doughnut. Guess the north winds didn't chase them away. Anyone been out????

I heard 40-45 feet out of MC, and 30-35 out of New Buffalo

I'm sure those that move around and know what they are doing are getting fish

last 4 or 5 weeks have been good out of mc. sometimes east or west. this last week has been a little tougher because of the large # of small fish. but if your getting dinks move. west was better today

Picked off a half dozen jumbo in a couple hours at Ogden Dunes this morning. First one on the lake after the storm. Work cut my outing short

Thanks for all the reports guys I appreciate it. Looks like I will be able to get out the beginning of next week. Hope they stay around till then. Once the chinook start to come in say good-bye perch. I think we should have another month or so.

No keepers today same story went west and east all depths never found any big schools but either steelhead or salmon were actively feeding at least the swirls from chasing baitfish indicated so maybe that's why no perch

Fished Perch Derby out of New Buffalo today, caught 2 gobies but that was better than friday out of M C which was worse.
Great day, there were a few perch caught but nothing great to speak of. We had a great turn out and a great time.I think 5 fish was the most caught
by any one person. Tough bite, lots of pods of fish but no takers.

not too surprising after that big blow, the water is still real churned up. i think it'll be another few days before it gets going again

We have reached the time of year (and water temps) where we need two or three days of south winds to drive the warm water out and bring in colder bottom water in order for perch to be in closer to shore.  Look at these temps from the Cook buoy:
   72.9 °F
5-day plot - Thermistor Temperature, depth:   Datasheet   Thermistor Temperature, depth: 3.3 ft. (TP001)   72.9 °F

5-day plot - Thermistor Temperature, depth:   Datasheet   Thermistor Temperature, depth: 16.4 ft. (TP003)   72.8 °F
5-day plot - Thermistor Temperature, depth:   Datasheet   Thermistor Temperature, depth: 23.0 ft. (TP004)   72.7 °F

If the current wind forecast for next week holds, fishing should be good next Saturday or Sunday
