heynow  if  your having trouble with gobies  raise  your bait off the bottom  gobies have  no  swim bladder  and are bottom feeders

We all have those days PP. I got my butt handed to me tonight, 1 perch and a bunch of short eyes. First walleye skunk this season. It was still a nice night on the water with my son.
Saw you coming back right before dark. Wondered how you did. We caught 10 shorts 1 keeper and a small mess of perch. Same story last weekend. Never caught this many shorts before.  8)

Hey trap, thanks for the advice. I was using slip bobbers so I wasn't right on bottom but too close in any event. I should have tried fishing higher in the water column but old habits are tough to break. I had the slip knots I use to high so that when I made a cast the bobber did not ride straight up and down but rather fell over on it's side meaning my lure/jig was sitting on bottom. I only adjusted the knot a couple of inches so I was practically fishing right off bottom. Thanks again for the heads up; next time I'll pay more attention to where my lure is relative to bottom.

Gobies can reach as much as 18" off bottom and they are an aggressive bunch

Got out tonight for an hour. Ended the slump with twin 20 inchers. Both went back to fight another day. It was good to have a couple on the other end of the line!
Nice job findin em

Anyone use the Okuma SV reels? Dicks has them on sale 50% off. Good price for a nine bearing reel.
