NWS says mild winter for midwest and northeast

Seems that way here too. Not looking good for early ice fishing. But I'm still at it open water and doing some wading so it's not all bad.

NWS Northern Indiana is calling for first accumulating snow next Saturday.

yep, gonna be warm through the first part of january, then the cold weather will kick in.

I want ICE ICE Baby....mild is nice, but I love the ICE.  Ice season is already too short.  Doesn't look like we'll be on the hard stuff until well into January around here..too bad for my son and all the new ice fishing toys Santa is going to be bringing him.

if you believe the old wives tale about acorns then we are in for a COLD winter.  I have about 1.5" of them on my driveway.

Does this forecast begin AFTER this week?
Seems like the Midwest is due for a snowy and COLD week ahead.

Like the old sayings go: "You usually plan for what you know to expect, not what you don't expect"

and "I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it" (which covers just about anything you can think of).

I bought an abundance of ice melt last year because of the shortage the year before.
I bought (and USED) a pair of snowshoes last year.
I may buy an additional shovel, just in case one breaks.
My brother and sister have been slowly stocking up on wood pellets to avoid running out later on.

Now all I need to do is break out the ice gear and give it a "going-over" to make sure everything works and is where it should be!

Next week is looking mild for Vermont, 40's and 20's, that's March weather. We are supposed to get snow in the hills tonight.

I doubt anyone will be ice fishing around here by Christmas.

I can't win. After 35 years of listening to my wife whine about winter, I got her riding a snowmobile last year. Now she's complaining about the warm weather.

True but it's still mild for this time of year here so far except for one freak snowfall that didn't last.

New England is less predictable than the midwest by far!
