I know the Hudson fishery is a bit different than others but I gotta say Tom, being a striper addict many times over.  Its all about the night bite ;)

Lance they glow in the river don't they  :P

Not enough to keep me from having seconds  8)

Never tried night fishing for them but during the day it usually shuts the striper bite down on the Hudson for a couple days in my experience.
That whole " Hannock " crew is afraid of the dark anyway

I've tried circles in every facet of my fishing, and scratched them off my list for all applications.   Now this could be due to user error but I suggest they are just not right for some applications.  Stripers being one of them.  Big tough mouth, you need to drive that point home!

yet again, circle hooks sucked for us.

Had two fish take my wide gap 4/0 L042 deep this weekend (fish were still easily unhooked)

so I had some non-offset 9/0 circles in the box, threw one on.

first fish on that rig took the hook all the way into its stomach, couldn't even see it.  Had to keep it.

So we've learned that circle hooks do indeed suck unless you're in a billfish tourney lol.  The Tom Hannock crew is asacred of the dark and this guy needs to get down on some striper fishing this weekend!

The kearned was my bad.  The Ascared was on purpose.  My autocorrect has a mind of its own so I turn it off.  For you're edification Lance, and yours alone I have revised my post.

Now all that said....today is great bass weather!

Did well on the upper river tonight around Albany, all on chunked herring. I had a scare coming back down river to Henry Hudson Park. The lights are out on one of the channel marker buoys. I saw it at the last minute and swerved to avoid a head on collision, but still smacked it and put a dent in the boat. It could have been worse if I hit it dead on. The channel marker is just downstream from the Normanskille.

I plan to call USCS tomorrow and report.

Stay safe, and tight lines.

How did everyone do this weekend?

We purposely avoided the crowds saturday, did real well friday, sunday a little slower, but still managed to catch plenty.

I cant wait to get up there this weekend.
It looks like bait is spotty but we always find it.
I will be in the Hudson to Columbiaville area.
