Sweet, thanks for the info guys. The $9.99 one is perfect for surface temp, and my wallet. That's all I'm looking for in the shallow bogs.

Attack thanks for fixing it up, and many others you do as well. I appreciate it because it makes it simple for me. I only have a smartphone,  but I'm a dumb operator!

how about this guy at link you can drop it down 9 foot and read it 9 foot down but that is the max it goes is 9 foot long cord lol's you could search for digital thermometer with a long thermo couple probe?? like this one at link  this one costs $19.99 so I don't know if it will work or not for you but there are others out there with 20 foot cords but some cost 100's...
