Don't matter what they look like as long as they work..    ;)

Not bad for the rudimentary tools I have to work with. My kingdom for a Bridgeport :-\

Here's the latest set. I finished them off this morning.

Kind of hard to see them , but I made a couple full sized tools and a couple mid sized tools. Used them today for some fun projects with my Son. Relatively simple to make. About 45 minutes each. Less than $50 in the lot. Over $250 to buy....without handles. They work really well. A departure from traditional turning tools.

We're happy.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Played around making a few toys.

My son made one from some green birch. It checked.

They really do spin well.

Sweet!  Too bad about the check, but I'm sure there's another stick in the pile.   ;D

I think some gorilla glue will rescue it. I've got a pretty good stash of sticks drying

We're having fun with the chatter tool. Getting it figured out.

RG

I have not seen one of those tops in years. I have quite a bit of walnut that has been cut for years. It is too bad that shipping is so high.

I'm having a lot of fun with some backyard wood Tom. Ash seems the most stable in sapling sizes. I also have live oak, Apple, black birch, cherry and a couple yet to be identified.

Won't be too long before the "garage shop" will back in production. I'll probably move out there in April. I've got orders for birdhouse and feeders. The lathe will stay where it is.

Till then, we'll keep on building toys and stuff.

Worked up a steady rest for turning longer small diameter items.

Played with it yesterday for a while. Works like a charm!
 Fun building stuff that works.

Here's a little info on whipping ..

Chugging is like jigging and hand lineing is similar to whipping and it's motions all can be done with this simple cut out of a board above..
