Fun stuff for an old wood mite Mac.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Finished up my router table / table saw combination. Had to make the router table base a bit smaller to marry it up with the table saw. Levelers on the base make it adjustable.

Mounted a male plug inlet so I can simply attach an extension cord.no machine cords to drive me nutz.

Compact and functional....I like it.

And on casters.  Great space - saving idea.  Very utilitarian!   ;D

I've been using the carbide tools for turning. They are really sweet. I see a 3/8" set of finer tools in the very near future.
Question......are the inserts for wood turning any different than the inserts for metal work?

That's a good question.  I'll have to research that.  There are e different grades for different applications, but truthfully, I believe if it will cut tool steels, it will cut wood. I'll let you know what I find out.   ;D

Thanks. I have to believe that $15 for an insert is a bit on the high side. Although, they may be a different spec. Sure is nice to have a machinist around to answer some questions. I appreciate it.

Working on the chess sets. The pawn.

The threaded mandrel and collet chuck are a slick system. Drill the block, thread it, screw it on the mandrel and turn away.

We're still deciding on a final design for the pawns.

It's addicting when I get a blank spinning in the lathe.

Been busy in the wood shop. Finished the new and by much improved sharpening system for my lathe tools.

Gouges... of all sizes.

Skew jig

Parting tools

And bowl gouges with a fingernail grind.

Between the three fixtures and the adjustability of the fixtures,  I can sharpen all my tools in a variety of ways with repeatable results. Very....very sharp tools, time after time. Took a while, but I got there. ;D

Fun stuff.

I like the concept, but won't the cutting angle change as your gouges get shorter?

How about something like this?   ;D
