I've still never been here, I gotta 4 day weekend next weekend so I think I'll take the kayak over and try it. Just don't know if I wanna target bass or gills. I'm a bass fisherman but you guys always talk about the gravel pit size gills in there...

Sitting on pads in dark ready to go! Beautiful lake. Nice cool start to the day.

Good luck. I fished it yesterday for 5 hours and only caught 3 gills. Weeds are getting terrible. Maybe guys who dip for them, or use fly rods with floating spiders may have better success. I think I am done on this lake till fall. Going to start targeting those perch.

Well it was tough going we managed a nice dozen. Amazing sunrise on the lake this morning. Just nice to be out when its this nice. Dipping was most productive. No keepers under pads. Found them in the stick ups.

Anyone know the dates the slough is closed for fishing?

Whenever goose season opens the lake will be closed to fishing. I think it is Sept 1st. but not 100 percent cause I haven't hunted the past few years.

Ya I remember it closes for a couple weeks then reopens a short period of but wasn't sure on dates.
