A lot of people don't even realize that there are no trout native to NY, since both lakers and brookies are Char. Great info Rat. Learn something every time I visit the site.

Very nice thread, RAT.  Thank you.   ;D
I looked for a picture of a temiscamie for you yesterday. I didn't find one either.  ???
One more with the one we're after and we'll have two.
The brook trout is the prom queen of the trout world, and a promiscuous prom queen at that!

Fall creek today. What strain RAT? Caught many more like this. BUT caught one 2-3" larger and much prettier right off (no pic, saw fish rising and jumped out of the truck with my tail wagging, grabbed the fly rod and forgot my phone  :P.)  Probably just a hold over that got better colors from a year in the stream is my guess..

need to name of county to check what was put in
as far as i know heritage strains are put in ponds, but they will travel
most times creeks are stocked with crosses or domestics.
look at the photo of my cross see the colors
to me looking at the photo, looks like a domestic??
some times the creek water will change the color to a degree
it is a REAL NICE trout
does  fall creek have drop down water??
 ;D ;D ;D

drop down water??
sorry,i didnot explain. drop down water is DEEP WATER where the trout can go,
when the water gets to warm, but are able to back into the creek after the water cools
off ,like a pond, lake, deep hole, spring holes were the water stays cold
