Tell him to rub the taters with some olive oil and his favorite seasonings before putting them on the grill. We like garlic powder, kosher salt and coarse pepper.  20-30 minutes at 350 will do it.

They work in the oven too.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

I'm gonna get a set of those Potato nails if I can find them locally. Never did like that thing we have for taters... to much of a PITA to clean up! Got so I'd just do them on the grill by themselves. I know the nails will transfer heat into the potato and make for faster cook time.

Does Lowes carry them Rg?

Easier to order them online. Most Lowes will be sold out of them for the season by now. Mine may have come from Walmart.

Will do.    Speaking of potatoes, I was in Idaho the other day and found the world's largest tater.  Don't think Weber has nails this size.

Reminds me of the old vacation post cards with the giant bass on top of the car.

You're all non-believers!  Ok, you got me, after close inspection, it looked like a giant potato but didn't feel or taste like a real potato. But make no mistake, the people of Idaho take their potatoes very seriously.  While I was there I also witnessed:

THE TATER TUG - where groups of strong willed people tried to pull each other into a large pit of mashed potatoes

And - THE POTATO SACK - where young women competed against each other to sack the most  potatoes.

                                                                                                                                                                           The giant potato is real
