We have a couple days with north winds but then next week looks like south winds, hot and excellent perch weather. Hopefully some warmer water will be blown in with the north winds. If we get some warmer water the soft shells will be HOT...

for some i guess its the adventure of "the big lake".  from a fishing standpoint its not worth the drive for, what ten perch?  only need to drive a few miles from here for better fishing and no limits.  plenty of 10-12" perch inland.

Never seen a bass sized perch inland indiana. Maybe I don't Fish the right spot. Nothing like a 2 hook rig bending your rod. Yellow lake is 22$ a pound last I checked

Hoping the wife doesn't have any plans for tomorrow. I would like to target some perch. Has anyone been out lately? And if so, what depth and where? Anyone heard anything about Cal Park and the weed beds yet?

The 15 inchers this year went from 1 lb. 10 1/4 ounces (26 1/4 ounces) to 2 lbs. 2 oz (34 ounces). Weighed on a certified scale. For those of you that don't know I hatch these fish in one of my ponds, bring then inside and train them to feed on artificial feed and keep them inside until the following spring. They are then placed in a holding pond and fed for another year until the following spring when I can easily tell the males from the females. Then only the females go into the trophy perch and bluegill pond, and are harvested when they reach a minimum of 14 inches.

Not the same as fishing public waters and I don't claim it to be. It's a business where I sell them to taxidermists. I have and do allow folks to help me harvest them via hook and line just before they drop their eggs, but also use a large  seine. Some want to have their biggest mounted which is fine too.

Biggest so far was 16 1/4 inches and 2 lbs. 13 ounces. 5 ounces bigger than the state record. Haven't harvested a 16 incher since.

The following were harvested this spring.

That is mind blowing!! Must feel good to raise huge perch like that!
