Desert fishing
« on: Jun 20, 2016, 09:35 PM »
My work headquarters are in phoenix arizona and I have to leave sunday to work for 6 days. I like to travel with my fly rod and and my folks (who lived in phoenix)said there are some made made lakes and ponds within a half hour of where my hotel is. Ponds include bass, tilapia, trout, and some giant bluegills. Anyone ever fish arizona? They don't have much of a presence here on fishfinder.

Are you anywhere near Havasu that has the insane sized red ears?

Are they in drought conditions in the area you will be in?

Ha. Believe me I would be after those monster red ears if I had the time. About 3 hours away from where I'm working. It's gonna be be 114 degrees when I land there. I cant imagine any fishing will be good at those temps.

Yeah, but it is a dry heat !  Good luck and drink plenty of water. When you get back and head to MC the steelies will still be in that cool water.

Ha. My wife and I are actually going to the casino for the night tomorrow for our anniversary....I wonder if I will be in trouble if I throw a rod in the car

ftwalleye: my son and I spent last night on the pier at MC. Caught two steelies. Thought we would do better before the storms. Left a few for you when you get home.

Would you need a good sized boat and motor to fish it?

Well It was 108 degrees at 10 pm. Don't think I'm gonna make it out to fish this week. They have me coming back for a 2 week trip in august. I will have weekends off so will get to travel to some of the lakes
