$12 a piece is why I learned to make them Matt. I'm basically a cheap SOB. Rather pay myself for something than someone else.

What started me thinking about these again was a trip to the stream with the little  2 wt the other day. It's a 6'6" IM-6  2 wt.  I was having some trouble with the 4' furled leader I had on the little rod. It just wasn't right. So,  decided to make a couple 3' for it. They worked out great. I was rolling over those tiny Adirondack dries like feathers in the wind.

Yesterday I was looking at the little wood shop and thinking that I could make them out to 20' and in any number of reductions with the space I have there. So......I'm planning some Tenkara lines.

The vision is a t-slotted jig in 8' sections with adjustable posts. That way I can vary the rates of reduction to provide heavier butt or tip sections for specific styles of fishing. For example, you nymph fishers might like a leader that has a lighter, sinking tip and a heavier floating butt to help get the nymph down in the water column. I make a lot of mine with orange or chartreuse butt sections to act as an indicator. Just add a bit of payette paste to the butt section and they float all day.

A mind is a terrible thing :-\

I'm heading out to check my mulberry trees in a little while. I'm dying to feel one of those carp smash a fly and take off for Buffalo ;D

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Not much going on yesterday. Mulberries are a week away, or so it seems. Nothing much else other than a few big gills and one smallmouth.

Gave a guy from work a casting lesson this morning. That was interesting. If I wrote list of everything you just don't do when fly casting, he did them all. His elbow was flailing, wrist wobbling all over the place, the arc was about 9-6 and his loops were bigger and more oddly shaped that anything I've ever seen.

The boy just ain't got no rhythm.

We'll work on it. Think I'll look for a metronome.

The Mulberry's were dropping all over the place at a party in Scottsville on Saturday!
*P.S., Rg, could you tie me up a fly that looks like floating Koi pellet food? I need to remove some pesky mutants from my pond.
thanks,

Rg, "Tetra" (brand)  Koi Vibrance is the name. I'd post a pic but can't.

Glue a coffee bean to the back of a hook, that covers most pellets...
