Berkeley lightning rod
« on: Oct 17, 2016, 09:16 PM »
I know this is a long shot but I thought I would give it a go here.
I am searching for an 80's Berkley lightning rod, 6'6"-2pc. ML.
I have one rebuilt that I have kept since my best friend and I bought one while still in school as kids.
The newer model lightning rods are not the same or I would pick up a new one.
I would really like to get one as a gift for him and I am  willing to rebuild it if necessary depending on the quality.
If anyone has one laying around or knows someone that does please contact me here.
Thanks
Jason Henderson

I would like to help you, but I couldn't ever part with mine. I wish you luck with your search because you nailed it when you say the new models don't compare. I love those early Berkley rods too.

I did a search on ebay for you, but filtered it for used rods -

I had one of those old lightning rods back in the late 80's. I found it in the brush by a bullhead spot I had. Never found the owner, so I kept it company for a couple decades. I caught 1,000s of fish with that rod. Super sensitive and back bone galore.

Thanks guys, I have had my eyes open for over a year now. I have found a couple that are close, meaning different actions, lengths and pieces. A couple broken ones and one guy on YouTube that has a brand new in package that he will not part with.
I use this for my perch rod now that I rebuilt it. Probably the best value of any gear I have purchased. Don't get me wrong, I have some extremely expensive gear that I would not live without anymore, but for the price I paid back then, likely the best value overall.
Thanks for the help guys. If u come across anything at a yard sale or in a buddies basement keep me in mind.
