Get a hobby!

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Every winter it gets tougher.
The neuropathy in my feet required that I quit ice fishing about 4-5 years ago.
And shortly thereafter I also had to give up any outdoor activities that required any substantial time being spent out in the cold.
I gave all my gear to my son Jeff.
He's been getting things ready lately and he even bought a 3rd hut.
I've been watching him and discussing things and wishing I could go with him.
But I don't dare.
Lest I end up suffering with absolutely unbearable pain for 2-3 days afterwards.

But last night when I got home from work I decided to shovel the drive before heading in the house.
I live by the airport in Buffalo, NY.
A little north of where the heavy snow fell yesterday.
Less than 10 miles south of us they got 28" in Blasdell/Hamburg area.
Just a mile south of me they got 12".
I got like 3-4" at my house, and it was very light snow.
Lake effect snow bands are strange as to who they select.

So no snowblower...........I used the shovel.
Only took 20-25 minutes and I probably could have even used a push broom.
Today I'm paying for it.
The feet are on fire.
But I still think it was worth the pain.
I really do enjoy the outdoors and fresh air.
I even thought about going back out about 8:30-9 last night and cleaning things up again.
But decided not to push things.

In 4-5 yrs Donna and I plan to retire and move far south into southern Florida.
Down south of Sarasota, near Fort Meyers.
Then the pain won't be as bad, and I can fish and spend more time outdoors 12 months out of the year.
I look forward to this.

But in the meantime................come on Summer!!!!!

Not ready for summer just yet myself, but I hope winter passes quickly for you Mac. Can't be any fun having to deal with that kind of pain  :'( Hopefully this summer we can meet up out by your summer place & hit the lake for some big eyes!!! Take care & keep warm  ;D

You betcha.
Yea, it isn't really that I hate winter.
I hate being limited in what I can do like this.
(Of course, I don't love winter either)
 :D

In the past, I ice fished because if you wanted to catch fish you had to drill holes.
I like ice fishing, but I still prefer warmer temps and fishing out of my boat or from the shoreline.
It would be awesome to never have to winterize my boat or my place on Erie.

So glad I don't have to drive the bucket truck to Buffalo any more. I've witnessed all the bad things a West wind can do from West Seneca to Erie. It's a nasty place to be in the winter. Thruway is shut down west of Buffalo as of now.

I was thinking about going ice fishing this weekend. Now I see it's not going to break through the teens until Monday.

Good thing I moved the Little Wood Shop indoors.  ;D

Still got 1.5-2 months probably.
Still, I can't help dreaming about getting the Lund out for some fishing.
