Having never fished the Maumee does the Indiana portion of the river see any of the run. I'm guessing there are dams or something blocking the run or is it just too far. As far as trotlines I doubt that Indiana has any special regs on the Maumee this time of year.

There are several dams blocking the main portion of the run.  I would assume some of the resident walleye all move upstream as far as possible in all portions of the river though.

from what i can tell, you can buy a special license to run a trot line from the first dam up river at grand rapids.  above that dam its ok with a regular fishing license.  not planning on doing this but was wondering if a guy could. lol  i never seen anyone doing it when i used to fish there.  but you sure wouldnt do it where people were walking into it either.  im sure some yeahoo is running a few somewhere over there though. lol  i often wondered about drifting one behind the boat out on erie.  ;D

I wonder if your trot line would be there when you come back?  ;D Seems it would easy to snag into one.

There's enough terminal tackle down there as it is.

Sounds like the actions heating up and the forecast is finally showing temps steady in the 50s. As soon as I get a couple days off work in a row I'm gonna make the drive. Anybody else goin? Has anyone been lately?

I'm headed that way the 2nd week in april.. however I think I'm leaning towards fishing the lake, not the river.. probably by that time most of the big fish will have moved out to deeper waters is my guess

2 of the guys I work with went over on the 23rd and 24Th. Came home with 1 fish each. Did say a few had 2 and some with 3, but most 1 or none. Need some stable weather soon.

We were out on the lake last week.  We only caught 3 but the size made the trip worth it.  If you can get out on either the river or the lake, the next few weeks should provide some great opportunities.
