Vacation Ideas
« on: Feb 09, 2017, 06:05 AM »
I find myself in the situation of having a ton of EBT that I will lose by November 15, 2017.  My hunting time is already planned out but I'm looking for inexpensive short time (2, 3, 4 days) open water fishing trips.  We do an iceout trip for cold water species and a bass trip in June.  Other than that I'm pretty open and truthfully I get pretty tired of looking at the Fish River Chain..

Thoughts?

Jay, a Lake Ontario, Salmon R., etc. trip might fit the bill.

Thank you Jim

A brown trout trip to Lake O was on the short list.  However, we are doing a kitchen remodel this Spring so staying close to home is financially prudent.

Late fall West Grand trip?
At the mouth of the river at Sebago in the Spring, it's East to West unless you want a beating from the rest! ;D ;D

The last time I trolled WG it was amazing. Was the last couple days of the season, October 15-20th range. Only boat on the lake and just used streamers and fly rods at a brisk pace and had really good action.

I would recommend a remote site at Upper Richardson in the Rangeley area. Excellent  fishery and some monster togue in Lower and Upper which I know your good at.....stunning views, no development on lake really and close enough to take the 20 minute ride to Rangeley. Rangeley Lake is great first 2 weeks of ice out but Upper Richardson and Azicahous  are my 2 favorite lakes....so peaceful and relaxing.
If you're too busy to fish...........You're too Fa..king busy!

You hit the nail on the head.  It is on the list and I'm looking there in June.

What about the salt water?  I know you grew up on stripers and blues.  Maybe combine a trip to Sebago with a day on the Saco for example?  I'm sure there are some guys on here that could point you in the right direction 8)

X2  , if not salmon maybe a steelhead drift trip or a spring trip for browns , plus Ontario has some really nice bass

That's what I would recommend. Can't go wrong with a remote site on Richardson.
