Need some info, what's a perch bug ??

I used perch bugs on Silver Lake as a kid back in the early 60's
Panfish loved them
Perch, gills, rock bass, they loved them

If they are Dragonfly Larva they should look something like the images at the link below.

Yup - that's them.

Funny that I haven't seen them ever being sold at bait shops.
Mac's at Silver Lake back in the 60's sold them.
And the fish LOVED them.

So I guess you have to harvest them yourself, I guess their just like hellgramites. Thanks for the info,like everything else bait shops are going to be a thing of the past!

We use to buy them for fishing when I lived in Michigan...   There called "Wigglers"  ...   Cant find them around here...

I think you guys are talking about th oak leaf grubs....i used to find them in log jams and beaver dams...my wife's uncle in pa used to sell them by the thousands up around honeoye lake

The photo of the dragonfly larvae are perch bugs as I remember them

I have used oak leaf grubs for ice fishing many times and they aren't what we knew as perch bugs

My dad used to call them " bass bugs".Will would catch them while netting crabs.they looked pretty scary and my dad would put them on for us!!

Bob's Boat and Bait at the North end of Conesus used to sell "Michigan Wigglers" in baby food jars years ago.  They were great for perch but I think they were more like a freshwater shrimp.  They had a smaller head and did not have long legs like the dragonfly larva pics.

Michigan wigglers are mayfly larvae, used to use them in college in the UP and they were like candy to trout and panfish. But I believe you cannot use them anymore, maybe still in Michigan or now that I am in NY they cannot use them.

when I was a  kid  (long ago)  we  would  go out  front mexico point and  drift  small crabs  we  killed  big perch  and  smallies .....
