Striped bass with PIT. Pinger transponder
« on: Aug 07, 2017, 06:05 AM »
My buddy harvested a striper that had stitches in belly(Pit). I told him that fish was part of a studied. Question is what to do with transponder now? No tag found on fish. Thanks

Actaully, i think the idea is you mail it in and they are able to track where the fish has been, Should be some info on the device i would think.

If there isn't more info I would call DMF to see if they know who it belongs to!

Typically there is a tag to go along with it.  Small wire tag with print on it.  I usually cut them off and mail them in.  They send you back info on the fish, sometimes a hat.  When they put those in fish they expect to lose a few so don't sweat it.  Chances are there are more tham a few out there.

Old study of summer time tracks of resident bass. Is what DMF told me. But haven't heard back from biologist yet. I'll keep you posted. FYI when you catch a tagged fish you don't have to remove it to claim prizes send pic with weight, length, date caught and released general and health of fish. Get pic of tag and ID# on tag.
