Out here many bluegill fisherman will throw the trout back and keep the bluegills. The diehard bluegill fisherman call the trout snot rockets. On one lake ice fishing you'd hear a lot of profanity when the big rainbows schools came through and snapped their 2 pound test all the way down the line. Some ice fisherman even used 1 lb. test as the water is so clear in that lake. No match for up to 7 pound rainbows.
The favorite way to eat the bluegills here is to fillet them and deep fry in beer batter.
